The European Commission’s Digital Omnibus is on a mission to untangle Europe’s web of laws on data, cybersecurity, and AI. Less paperwork, fewer overlaps, and maybe even a bit of breathing room for businesses. Companies are invited to share ideas on making the rules smarter, simpler, and a little less… bureaucratic. To do so, the Commission is gathering input and best practices from experts, startups, and stakeholders through consultations on the Data Union Strategy, the Cybersecurity Act, and the AI Strategy.
And don’t worry — safety and fairness stay top priority. Brussels is just trying to make the law a little less painful… because even the Commission can have a friendly side 😉
After publishing its Guidelines on the Protection of Minors under the Digital Services Act this summer, the European Commission is now putting them into action.
The new rules outline how platforms should keep kids safe online — think private-by-default accounts, smarter recommender systems, limits on addictive features, and strong age checks.
Now, Brussels is testing compliance: the Commission has officially asked Snapchat, YouTube, Apple’s App Store, and Google Play to show how they protect minors — from blocking illegal sales like vapes or drugs to preventing harmful content and enforcing age ratings.
The message is clear: online safety for kids isn’t optional anymore — it’s the law. So yes, even your favorite app has homework now. 🤨
End the year in style: two can’t-miss XR adventures are coming your way.
