Dear Metaverse enthusiasts,

With the new academic year upon us, the MetaverseUA Chair is back in action with a brand-new webinar series, called «Thursdays in the Metaverse». This exciting lineup will offer a deep dive into cutting-edge virtual world topics led by leading experts.

The webinars will spark critical discussions on the intersection of virtual environments and real-world legal frameworks, by addressing key topics such as the European Union’s current approach to regulating the metaverse, the implications arising from the use of biometric and body-based data, or the challenges posed by NFTs in digital environments.

Here’s what’s on the agenda:

– 31st October, 16:30 CET: «Standards and Competition in the Metaverse: Assessing the EU‘s Approach to the Development of Virtual Worlds», with Anselm Kuesters (Divisional Head Digitalisation, Centre for European Policy, Berlin)

– 21st November, 17:00 CET: «The Embodied Web» with Brittan Heller (Researcher in International Law, Technology and Human Rights)
