MetaverseUA Chair Research Paper #1 – A European Regulatory Framework for the Metaverse

We are pleased to announce the release of the first paper in our series, MetaverseUA Chair Research Papers titled ‘A European Regulatory Framework for the Metaverse’, authored by Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballet, one of the members of the Chair’s Scientific Committee, and Aurelio López-Tarruella Martínez, the Chair’s Director.

We are pleased to inform you that the EMRN now has a website. As you may know, the Metaverse Chair is part of the European Metaverse Research Network (EMRN), which had received funding provided through an unrestricted gift by Meta in order to conduct a multidisciplinary research on the metaverse to explore the implications of this transformative technology.

The Chair Metaverse UA launches its LinkedIn and its Youtube profiles to connect with professionals, students and enthusiasts of this exciting field we are exploring.

Participation of the Chair’s Director in the “More Than Just a Game” Conference held in London.

Aurelio López-Tarruella, director of the MetaverseUA Chair, will participate in the conference “More Than Just a Game” that will take place in London from 19th to 21st April 2023

The scientific committee of the MetaverseUA chair sounds the starting shot with their inaugural meeting.

On February 10th, the inaugural meeting of the Scientific Committee of the MetaversoUA Chair took place at the Alicante Campus of the UA, with the presence of the Rector Amparo Navarro, in order to define and initiate the activities for the first year of work.

Meta reaches an agreement with the University of Alicante for the creation of the Metaverse UA Chair or the responsible development of the Metaverse.

The University of Alicante and Meta have agreed to create the MetaverseUA Chair, which is part of Meta’s XR Programs and Research Fund and aims to promote independent academic research in Europe on ethical and legal aspects of the metaverse, such as preserving digital identity or protecting personal data.
